As Hawaii luxury real estate brokers, we know those who live on the Big Island or have a second home here are grateful for many things, including the beautiful beaches, landscapes, and opportunity to enjoy an active lifestyle. While there’s lots to be grateful for, there are a few other advantages that, while, albeit a bit smaller, you will likely come to appreciate.

The freshest tropical fruit you could ever imagine. From mangoes and bananas to apples, rambutan and lychee, it just doesn’t get any better than enjoying the refreshing, luscious flavor of fruit straight from the tree, stalk, or vine. Buying frozen fruit or apples in the produce section at the supermarket just isn’t the same – trust us on this!

No daylight savings time, no disruption of life. Think about how things change during the year on the mainland, much of it due to daylight savings time. In winter months, it’s dark, or nearly dark, by 4 or 5 p.m., while summer may result in daylight until 8 or 9 p.m. With our own time zone, residents enjoy a sunset that occurs between 5:30 and 7 p.m., ideal for relaxing sunset dinners. No disrupted schedule or changes in spring and fall, just a relaxed way of life.

The Fountain of Youth – or in other words, plenty of moisture in the air. Humidity is great for your skin, unlike some other states where the air is dry. Who doesn’t want to look younger, with fewer lines and wrinkles?

It’s just a happy place. Everyone on the Big Island is friendly, and no one’s in a rush to get where they’re going. It’s an energetic atmosphere that’s contagious; the state with the happiest residents in America, according to the Gallup-Healthways State Wellbeing Report for 2016!

At Mauna Kea Realty we know you’ll be grateful for your beautiful luxury property in Hamakua, Waimea, Kohala Ranch, or one of the spectacular resort communities. That said, we also know it’s often the little things we take for granted that makes living in our beautiful state so special!
